We had so much fun this week. We expanded into the upstairs connection classroom and what a difference that made! We were out of space, and rooms were crowded...so we busted through the doors of the upstairs balcony and created some margin in our world! It was a lot of fun to see down into the connection too.
THE BIBLE STORY
This week we talked about the time Jesus was speaking to a crowd and parents were bringing their children to Him and the disciples stopped them, Jesus was already busy enough thought
the disciples...What was Jesus' response to this?
He said "NO", let them come. He wasn't only teaching the disciples a lesson, He WANTED to stop and give the children his time, and he wanted to listen to what they had to say. We imagined he even held the bigger kids in his lap too. In doing this, Jesus made those children feel valued.
THE CHALLENGE We challenged our kids to be like Jesus and show others
around them that they are valued. Not only that, but look for people that get over looked, like the kid who sits a lone at lunch or is often the last one picked on a team. Go visit shut-ins, or spend some time with your sibling doing something they want to do.
How? By stopping what you are doing to give others your time and to listen.
Kindergarten through 3rd grade drew pictures in their small group that helped illustrate our Bible story during large group.
The 4th and 5th graders are working on "The Domino Effect" of showing kindness to others around them througout the week and reporting back on Sundays. Then, this week they followed instructions from their teacher, this led to them ending up with a paper that was folded to create a paper airplane then they competed seeing whose plane could go the distance.
"I'm so glad Jesus is my Father, because that means I'm his kid!"
