Just His Imagination

Bottom Line: You were created, so you can be creative.

Virtue: Creativity—using your imagination to do something unique.
Basic Truth: I can trust God no matter what.

GOD VIEW: the connection between CREATIVITY and God's character, as shown through God's big story

In the beginning, the earth was formless and empty. Nothing existed that now exists. But God, with an imagination beyond our understanding, created a universe with stars and moons and planets...He created humanity, men and women, and He made them “in His image.” From the very beginning there has always been something about the human race that bears the thumbprint of God. The image of God, a part of the great creative imagination, is in each of us.

But what does all of this mean? We are creative, but so what? It means that we have creative minds which enable us to solve problems and lead others to accomplish remarkable tasks. It means that we have creative hands that can make art and music and write stories. It also means that we have a unique ability to use our creativity to make a difference in this world by helping others. So this month, discover the creativity that God has given you, and find a way to put your remarkable creativity into practice.

This month, let’s think about how:

(1) God is creative and exemplifies it.

(2) God instills that virtue in us as He shapes us to be more like Him.

(3) God uses that virtue in us to influence our families, friends, and neighbors.

Remember: A virtue is something God does in us to change the world around us.

This month as we talk about knowledge, we aren’t just talking about learning more or gathering more information. We are talking about really understanding what’s important to know.This month, let’s think about how:

(1) God created knowledge and exemplifies it.

(2) God instills that virtue in us as He shapes us to be more like Him.

(3) God uses that virtue in us to influence our families, friends, and neighbors.

Remember: A virtue is something God does in us to change the world around us.

As others notice the virtue being lived out in our lives, we have more opportunities to tell them about God. As they come to trust God, they’ll influence others as well. See the cycle?

This week, we’re discovering:

Our Bible story, which is found in Luke 2:41-52, tells us that Jesus spent time in the temple studying God’s Word. So our Bottom Line is: Since God knows everything, I should discover what God says.
Today, as you talk with the kids about 12-year-old Jesus and how He spent time studying what God said and learning from the temple leaders, show them how we too can know what God says. Reading His Word, listening to others talk about the Bible, and asking questions helps us know God and what matters most in His big story.
We can share our knowledge about what God says with others and they can see how it changes our life for the better—in building a stronger relationship with God and also in making wiser choices and loving others even more. Jesus is our best example, so we’ll learn what happened in His life from 12 years old to 33, in our Memory Verse—Luke 2:52.

April's Virtue: HUMILITY

Humility - Putting other's first by giving up what you think you deserve.

Memory Verse: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves." Philippians 2:3

God designed babies and small children to think "me, me, me" and to be concerned about themselves they demand attention when they need something, otherwise they wouldn't get what they need to thrive! As they mature, they can understand what it is to put themselves in someone else's shoes. Around age 7 they can start to understand the needs of others, but they need an adult's help to learn how to start to put the needs of others first. Jesus is a great example of Humility. He gave up everything for us so that we might live life abundantly.

In our first lesson of Humility we talked about the story of the Last Supper where Jesus washed His disciples feet. As His last "lesson" to them, he taught them humility.

March's Virtue: COURAGE

Being brave doesn't mean you're never afraid. It means doing what needs to be done despite being afraid. March's theme was FEAR FACTOR, as in not letting fear factor into our decisions about how to live.

Each week we had a "Courage Challenge" that allowed kids to face a fear but with a fun twist...it started with having the courage to VOLUNTEER before they knew the challenge!

Some of the challenges included being blind folded and putting their hands into spaghetti mush (they didn't know what is was) and find 5 small stones, one day they had to see who cold drink a "fruit smoothie" the fastest (which was baby food), and another day they had to sing into the microphone to a song that only they could hear in their headphones...and another day they had to go through an obstacle coarse blindfolded while a friend gave them the instructions on how to get through it.

They were challenged throughout each week to have courage in everyday situations and learning what to do when they were afraid.

We had so much fun this week. We expanded into the upstairs connection classroom and what a difference that made! We were out of space, and rooms were crowded...so we busted through the doors of the upstairs balcony and created some margin in our world! It was a lot of fun to see down into the connection too.

THE BIBLE STORY

This week we talked about the time Jesus was speaking to a crowd and parents were bringing their children to Him and the disciples stopped them, Jesus was already busy enough thought the disciples...What was Jesus' response to this?

He said "NO", let them come. He wasn't only teaching the disciples a lesson, He WANTED to stop and give the children his time, and he wanted to listen to what they had to say. We imagined he even held the bigger kids in his lap too. In doing this, Jesus made those children feel valued.

THE CHALLENGE We challenged our kids to be like Jesus and show others around them that they are valued. Not only that, but look for people that get over looked, like the kid who sits a lone at lunch or is often the last one picked on a team. Go visit shut-ins, or spend some time with your sibling doing something they want to do.

How? By stopping what you are doing to give others your time and to listen.

SMALL GROUPS

Kindergarten through 3rd grade drew pictures in their small group that helped illustrate our Bible story during large group.

The 4th and 5th graders are working on "The Domino Effect" of showing kindness to others around them througout the week and reporting back on Sundays. Then, this week they followed instructions from their teacher, this led to them ending up with a paper that was folded to create a paper airplane then they competed seeing whose plane could go the distance.

"I'm so glad Jesus is my Father, because that means I'm his kid!"

Golden Rule

Virtue: Kindness—showing others they are valuable by how you treat them. Memory Verse: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:31, NIV Bible Story: Golden Rule (The principle of the Golden Rule) • Luke 6:17-20,27-36 Bottom Line: Do to others what you want them to do to you.

Our story this week came from: Luke 6:17-20,27-“Jesus said that everyone, even people who don’t believe in God, expect people to love and be good to people who are already going to love them back. That’s not hard or even unexpected. Jesus also said that everyone, even people who don’t obey God, would give if they know they’re going to get something in return. But Jesus’ words were much more unexpected. He wasn’t telling us to do what’s ‘expected.’ He was telling us to do the UNexpected. Jesus was teaching us how to show kindness in what we say, what we do, and in what we give. Jesus wants us to love, do good, and give UNexpectedly. Do to others what you want them to do to you.

We challenged the kids to “Go Kinda Crazy” showing kindness to those around them…even though it was “kinda crazy” to loan somebody money you knew probably wouldn’t pay you back…and even though it was “kinda crazy” to show kindness to someone who hates you, those are the UNexpected things Jesus asks us to do.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT HOME AND WHAT TO DO WITH IT:

There are four different devotions on one GodTime card. Each devotion is designed to be done on a different day. The first one (labeled “Read Me First”) can be done on the way home or soon thereafter. “Day 1” is designed to be done next, and so forth. Bedtime can be a good time for devotions.

Be encouraged that doing even one devotion a week is better than none! If you have fears that you can’t lead your child to spend time with God (following GodTime is easy!):

(1) Find and read the Bible verse(s) in a Bible with your child. Use the table of contents to teach your child how to find verses in the Bible.

(2) Read the devotion paragraph aloud to your child, or help him to read it.

(3) Read and do the activity, letting your child do as much for himself as he can.

(4) Pray a simple, short prayer aloud with your child, using the prayer suggestion as a guide.

"Every year thousands of children are displaced from their homes by natural disasters, acts of war or poverty. Many of these children are separated from their families and have become orphans. The season of Christmas can be especially difficult for children who cannot afford to purchase their own clothes or hygiene items, let alone a toy or two.

To address this word wide need, several Christian charities and organizations have developed special programs called shoebox. Several small packaged into shoe boxes and sent to children all over the world."

This year Kidz Alive is sending shoe boxes to orphanages that we support. We are asking for everyone to start bringing in as many shoe boxes as you can.

We also need items donated so our kids can fill the boxes.

HUDDLE UP in DECEMBER!

2nd Saturday in December, the 11th. We'll meet in the Gym at 9:00am and the event goes until 12pm. This is a FAMILY EVENT for all families with children who are in Kindergarten through 6th grade. If you also have small children, you are welcome to bring them. There is not childcare for them but they can be with your family.

We will be eating a light breakfast to start the day and then have activities that you will do as a family to help you work as a team and value other members of your family above yourself. We have entertainment, fun, challenges, and worship all integrated into this day. You will laugh as well as have tender moments and interaction with your family. It's things like this that your kids will remember. We'll end the event with a couple of big "human foosball" games. That the whole family can participate in. We did a trial run through with our staff and we had a blast!

Come dressed in your favorite football team attire and be thinking about a good team name for your family.

Mark your calendar for Saturday December 11th!!! It's worth getting excited about!

This is an interactive time for the kids. Most of them have been in school all day and so we do our best to prepare opportunities for them to be active, expressive, creative, and build relationships...and everything points to God!

Why Our Child Security Is So Important

I know the security measures we have in place can be inconvenient, this video shows us why it's worth it. With the size church we have, it is imperative to have the proper security procedures exercised every week. Each child should be checked into the system and have a name tag on their clothing and you should have the pick-up slip with you when you pick them up. Only those who are listed as guardians should have your child's pick up slip.

Last week we discussed how-God Speaks To Me Through His Word-
THEY LEARNED:
THE BIBLE IS GOD'S WORD, IT IS ACCURATE, AUTHORITATIVE AND APPLICABLE TO THEIR EVERY DAY LIFE.
TO UNDERSTAND THAT READING THE BIBLE IS PART OF OUR RELATIONSHIP AND COMMUNICATION WITH GOD.
AND TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE CAN FOLLOW JESUS THROUGH FINDING HIM IN THE WORD!
It is already very captivating and you would be so surprised at how your kids are responding. It's a testimony that God's word really is a living word, when you see light bulbs appearing as the discussions unfold!

We will start to register the kids in October. The registration fee is $60 to ensure your child a place at camp. The rest of the money will be collected each month to ensure smaller installments. We are looking at some creative ways to help the kids raise money. All kids grades 2nd through 5th grade are invited to attend. Stay posted for more information and look for an information packet at the Kidz Alive desk Sunday August 22nd.

This camp will be life changing for your child! I started attending church camp when I was 7 and it was an amazing experience, I loved it so much I went to camp every year until I graduated. It is a great way for your kids to connect with the other kids at their church. After spending four days together, I'm sure we'll come away with stronger friendships with each other and a stronger relationship with God.

In The Connection

For ages Kindergarten (graduates) through the 5th grade.

This year is Hero HeadQuarters! At Hero Headquarters kids will meet unlikely Bible heroes who are often overlooked. They were not famous leaders or called by God to perform amazing miracles-yet their small acts made a big impact and used by God and now they are in our Bible.
Help Kidz discover that if they are willing to be used by God they can make a big difference and by joining forces with God they can be heroes right where they are!

Prizes will be given away everyday. Your child's name goes in the drawing every time they show up, bring a friend, or an offering.
On Wednesday during our closing assembly we'll be giving away an ipod itouch with all of the names from all three days.

This year we will be doing a final Hero during our last Sunday before Sabbath June 27th. You don't want your kids to miss it!

February Missions Sunday

This past Sunday was our first missions service in Kidz Alive. The kids recieved barrels for missions in January. They were given the challenge to fill the barrels with money. The money goes straight to the countries we talk about in Kidz Alive. If the kids filled their barrels with money, then they get their barrel filled up with candy. The child that brings in the most money at the end of the year gets a great prize! This month we had a special guest from SIFAT named Nate. He spoke to the children about how even their little part in missions can go a long way! The kidz brought in almost $700 this Sunday! We can't wait to see how the next few months go! March 28 is our next Missions Sunday. We will be learning about India and the orphanage that the kids at Word Alive are supporting!

This Sunday your child will come home with a Missions Bank. They have been charged with a mission of their own and it is to fill the bank up with money and bring it back the last Sunday in February. That is our missions Sunday! If they bring it full of money, they will leave with it full of candy. If they come with their bank half full of money they will leave with it half full of candy  We will do this until the end of the year on every last Sunday of the month, so make sure they keep up with it and encourage them to get their friends and community involved by donating their money. Each month we will be focusing on a place that we as a church support. They will learn all about the needs of the place the money they’ve raised will go. They will leave every missions Sunday with a prayer focus card that reminds them what that place needs prayer for the most! At the end of the year we will have a trophy for the child who raised the most money for missions in 2010. Kidz Alive wants to be a big part of the vision Word Alive has of giving $500,000 to missions this year!

January 17th
Our lesson in Kindergarten - 5th grade is "His Burden Is Light" God cares about the things that concern children just as much as He cares about things that concern us adults. Children can carry around pretty big burdens in their hearts. Children's burdens may not seem as important as the burdens we face everyday but they can have the same effect on their spirits and bodies...our goal today is to teach the children how to be free from the world's burdens and make room for only what God has for us to carry.

February 28th
This will be our fist Missions Sunday. Your kidz will be coming home soon with a coin bank to fill and return the last Sunday of every month. If they bring it full of money, they leave with it full of candy. At the end of the year, we hope to have a trophy for the child who raised the most money for missions in 2010. As a church we have been challenged to raise $500,000 this year. I'm encouraged to see how much of that our kidz will contribute!

March 21st

March 28th
Our Youth and Youth Leaders will be serving in Kidz Alive in order to give our Kidz Alive Teachers and Helpers a Sunday off to enjoy service and the Connection. We are very grateful, and we thank the youth for their service.

May 23rd
Pentecost Sunday! We have a service planned to encourage all of the kidz to receive the Holy Spirit. We are very excited about this, we will be campaigning for it soon, in order to get all the kidz we can in our Kidz Alive service that Sunday and write a day in the history of their lives! We will have a service like this coming up in the month of February as well, we hope that by May the fire will have spread so that we can reach MORE kidz!

What a great service today! You're looking at our 11:30 service with 95 Kidz. Our new curriculum written by one of our very own Kidz Workers is going great. This was our 3rd week and it was "Give Him All You've Got". Today they learned about God: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. They learned that our body was made up of 3 parts. Our body, soul, and spirit and who controls those parts. The Father, Son, or Holy Spirit. It went very well and the games were hilarious too. Worship was off the charts.

Tonight the kids will have their own Vision Night...we hope to see you there!

A New Shift on Sundays for K-5th Grades

We have been enjoying the Johnny Rogers Kidz Church Curriculum, but it's time for a shift. We will be starting a series of lessons written by one of our very own Kidz Alive Team Leaders.

It's a great series and custom fit for our Kidz Church. Tell your kids to come expecting a big impact and a closer walk with Christ our Lord. The series is called "Servant Hood" and the first week is "Lend God Your Ears!"

Verse: 1 Samuel 3:10b "Speak for your servant is listening."

In this lesson we want to teach the children the importance of hearing God's voice and acting on it. Children need to understand that they are able to hear God's voice. God is interested in speaking to them just as much as adults. Children, sometimes, are more open and willing to listen to the Lord than adults. Our goal is to teach children how to listen to God and how to act on what God tells them with boldness.

Also, we will be doing our Kids HIllsong Worship "Tell The World" We love this expression of worship.

We look forward to great things! This Starts December 27th.

Wednesday Nights New Schedule
From 6:00-7:00 we have free play in the Gym or outside. Except the 1st Wed. of the month we’ll have prayer from 6:00-6:30 upstairs in Kidz Alive.

Kidz Life Expressions begin at 6:30.
From 6:30-7:00 we have Kidz Praise Band Practice. From 7:00-7:30 we have Prophetic Painting, journaling classes and Kidz Handz Team Practice for Any child Kindergarten—5th grade. Puppet Ministry for 4th and 5th grade only: Help your child find their ministry gifting.

Starting next week Sept. 30th we will be rotating the life expressions. Next week we’ll have Handz Team and Puppet ministry available. The following week will be prophetic painting and journaling. Your child will have 2 life expressions to choose from each week, but it will never be the same 2 choices two weeks in a row. That will give everyone more opportunities to try out other ministry options. Praise Band will remain every week.

Handz Team: In this class they learn choreography to the songs we do on Sunday morning.
Puppets: In this class they learn proper techniques for operating a puppet. Right now they practice to our worship songs and perform on Sunday Mornings during worship.
Prophetic Painting: In this class they are given an opportunity to be creative through the spirit. Allowing the Holy Spirit to give them an idea to paint or a concept .(This is available during services Sunday as well)

Journaling: In this class they keep a journal through drawing pictures. That way they can express themselves about their day or week through pictures instead of words. This way it remains private, only they can interpret, but they still get to address it.

What's new in Kidz Alive?

Kidz Newz:
Today is our first Sunday with 3 services. We now have colored wristbands for our children to show us what time they will be picked up incase they are here for multiple services.

Here is our new color chart:

Blue tells us they will be picked up at 9:40
Red tells us they will be picked up at 11:10
Yellow tells us they will be picked up at 12:40

Each time gives the parents a 10 min. pick up window. So if you know you will be here until the end of second service your child will get a Red bracelet so we know they should be here until 11:10 and so on.

**For our K—5th graders**
Kidz Alive now goes from Kindergarten though 5th grade. 6th graders are part of the Jr. High Youth now. Youth are welcome to serve in Kidz Alive in a ministry capacity. With the multiple services, we have a lot of children who attend more than one service. For the school age children we have Kidz Church upstairs during 1st service at 8:30. We have “Kidz Jam” in the Gym during 2nd service at 10:00. During "Kidz Jam" there is mostly free play, but we begin with worship and our scripture for the week. We have Kidz Church upstairs during 3rd service at 11:30. If your child will be here for more than one service we will know by their color bracelet and we will take them to and from each event. 1st and 3rd services pick up is upstairs, 2nd service pick up is in the Gym.

Wednesday Nights 6:00 - 7:30Kidz Life Expressions.
AT 6:30 we have Kidz Praise Band Practice. At 7:00 we have Prophetic Painting class and Kidz Handz Team Practice for Any child Kindergarten—5th grade. Puppet Ministry & Sound/Audio class for 4th and 5th grade only: Help your child find their ministry gifting. We also have a regular class that does a devotion and a craft or game.

We have a new curriculum by KIDMO called “Lil’ K”. It’s based off of the cartoon Blues Clues. It’s media based so the children watch a video with lots of fun ways to learn their lessons including worship time. They bring home a “map book” with what they’ve learned, plus some things you can do at home with them to emphasize today’s lesson.

Kindergarten—5th grade

We have started a new curriculum called “DEEP” By KIDMO's Johnny Rogers. The service is packed with fun filled ways to learn more about God and connect with each other. We are encouraging them more and more to get to know others their age and find common interests. This curriculum does a great job with that. Their team can earn points throughout all parts of the service and that can get interesting! The last 15 min they split into small groups by Grade and get a more personal time to discuss today’s topic and for prayer. They will bring home a “MAP BOOK” that talks about what we did today and has a place to connect with you at home concerning their lesson. If they bring it back completed they receive a prize bag!

WOW! What a weekend we had! Our Christmas Musical "Bows of Holly" was great! Another thank you to Michael and Robin Abernathy. Our kids did great. They did 2 dress rehearsals and 3 shows in a matter of 3 days! Go to the Kidz Aloud site http://www.kidzaloud.org/ to see pictures!

Christmas decorations are going up on all houses in the neighborhoods. The radio sings of the season. Everyone knows what time of year it is. It’s practically announced everywhere you look. This Sunday the kidz learned about a very special announcement. The angel’s announcement of Jesus’ Birth! The angel named Gabriel appeared to both Mary and Joseph to tell them that “the baby is God’s Son. You will name Him Jesus.” What a way to receive an announcement! After hearing the story of the Angel visiting Mary and Joseph, the kids made the first three people in their very own nativity scene.

Our Bible story demonstrated how Jesus loves children. One day, parents wanted Jesus to pray for their children. When the children ran up to Jesus, his helpers told them to go away and that Jesus was too busy. Jesus’ responded by saying, “Let the Children come to Me. Don’t send them away! Heaven belongs to people like these children.” Jesus is a special friend to Children. They can spend time with Him and talk to Him just like they would their closest friends.

Celebrate! Christmas is a celebration of our savior and in the past month we've seen over 30 kidz make the decision for Jesus to be their savior. What a testimony!

We've been studying on what complaining can do for atmosphere and moral! Like the Irealites in the desert. And what FAITH can do for your circumstances like Moses with the serpent. Faith can lead you out of bondage while complaining can keep you in the desert for 40 years!

Our 3, 4, & 5 year olds...

One way to love God is to Thank Him! We began our day with a game of Charades where kids acted out things they were thankful for. Then we headed out to the mat where we learned about Noah showed God he loved Him by building an altar and thanking God for his protection through the rain. God was pleased w/Noah’s offering and made a promise never again send a flood like that. Then God sent a rainbow as a reminder of His promise. The kids made rainbows to remind them of things they are thankful for. One by one, they named a color of the rainbow and drew what they are thankful for that that color reminds them of.

Adventure Trails That Lead To Jesus!

Friends are a gift from God and this week our 3, 4, and 5 yr olds were reminded just how important friends are! Jesus’ friends were very important to Him too. Mary, Martha and Lazarus showed their friendship to Jesus by holding a dinner in His honor and Mary poured expensive perfume on His feet. Our puppet friends, Ponder the Frog and Stretch the Giraffe, reminded us that you don’t have to choose one best friend. You can love each of your friends the best way you can! One way we can show our friends we love them is to pray for them. So, during craft time we colored and created prayer cubes to help us when praying for our friends. Our 2 year olds are taught the same story and do a coloring paper.

A New Start In Life Comes From A Simple Belief In Jesus!

This was K-6th grade's first week in a series called "Encounters With Jesus". Today's lesson was on the birth of your spirit once you've accepted Jesus into your life. We've introduced a new "Shout it Out Game" which is much like Wheel of Fortune. This week's phrase was "Jesus Gives Me A New Start". They also played Xtreme Whistle Search where kids were asked to put their hands behind their back and find a whistle hidden in whip cream on a plate and be the first to blow the whistle. What fun!

We are wrapping up our series on Spiders! We've been looking at all of the things that we can learn from spiders. God put in us everything we need to survive...like a spider can produce it's own web to break it's fall, to make it's home, and to catch it's enemies. A spider can also eat it's web for protein and also to recycle it's web.

While it traps it's enemy in the web, a spider can glide effortlessly across the web because of the oil produced on their legs with every step they take. Much like we need to continually be anointed with fresh oil from the Holy Spirit and we can dodge things while our enemy gets trapped!

The spider has eight eyes, yet it can barely see. They can discern everything going on around them through the fine hairs on their legs. We can also see much more with our spirit than we can with our natural eyes

Some spiders have so much venom in their mouths they can kill things immediately. The kids were given the chance to see who could squeeze the most toothpaste out of their tube the fastest. Then they had to see who could get the toothpaste back in the tube the fastest...you guessed it...that's impossible. The message being "Once you say something, you can't take it back"!

This last week we're talking about how like a spider "Your size doesn't determine your potential, your spirit does"

We've learned a lot of interesting facts about spiders, but we've learned a lot about ourselves and the Holy Spirit too!

We're gearing up for Thanksgiving, and we hope to even take communion together on Thanksgiving Sunday!

We are having a "Sunday Kidz Party" this Sunday Sept. 14th during church upstairs in the Kidz Building for ages Kindergarten - 6th grade. There will be inflatables, games, candy, prizes, and much more. We're ready to "jump" in the action. We've got a team in place to make it awesome!

We've created a 5th & 6th grade break out room upstairs in the Kidz Building. There's paper lanters for cool lighting & intimacy during ministry time, a projector for the teacher to prepare visual aide for lessons,and a stereo for music. We're looking forward to more effects to create a fun and inviting atmosphere for our "pre-youth" 5th & 6th grade group. Soon we plan to have available to them a clown/puppet/drama ministry!

KIDZ BAND!
We have live Praise and Worship on Sunday Mornings.
The Kidz Band practices on Monday nights in the Kidz Building. The practice for the 9:00 service is held from 4:30-5:30. The practice for the 11:15 service is held from 5:30-6:30. If your child is interested in Singing or being a part of the Kidz Handz Team just bring them to the practice that matches the service you attend on Sundays. There is a list of Kidz Band Songs to the left of the page. Click on the names and let your kids listen to the songs and use them to practice.

BRING YOUR BIBLES!
Every week when your child brings their Bible, their name goes in a drawing every Sunday to pick a prize from our prize station. So encourage them to bring their Bible. They also are given a scripture to find (with your help) and have it bookmarked when they come which gives them another chance to win a prize.

Kidz Alive is still going strong in July! We're averaging around 300 kidz a weekend. 3 yr olds through the 6th grade have been talking about the Holy Spirit. The kidz response and questions have been really awesome. At the 11:15 service in the 5th and 6th grade class, when asked by a show of hands, "who has received the Holy Spirit?" 2/3 of them raised their hands! I think that is really great. Kidz are receiving the Lord as their Savior every service. What a privilege is it to be in a ministry where you can lead and see children led to the Lord.

Pastor Kent said something so cool in this week's message and so I wanted to share it again... When talking about God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit he said the only way he could describe that they were 3 separate units, but still one being, was by using the Sun as an example. He said the Sun is like God, the light off of it was like Jesus, and the heat from it was like The Holy Spirit! Is that good or what?

Our schedule gets a little hairy during this time...just to ensure a smooth summer, I thought I'd put it out there to all the parents and grand parents who would like to help out in Kidz Alive this summer. Our K-6th grade group has been growing in numbers and spiritualy! If anyone is interested in doing Sound or Computer Graphics during our 11:15 service in Kidz, please let me know and I'll plug you in. We are also looking for a keyboard player for our kidz band.

For the month of July. K-6th will all be meeting in the Kidz Building. 5th & 6th grade will split into one of the classrooms upstairs in the Kidz Building.

How Did Bible Jam Go?

Well Bible Jam was a great success. We had around 180 kids a day. The last day we had 200 kids here for the Water Gun Extravaganza. They had such a blast! It could not have worked out more perfectly. Jay Boozer brought a water balloon boomerang and launched water balloons onto the playing field! Too fun!!!! The Night of Holy Fire was awsome, a lot of kids were touched! I would like to thank all of those who helped that week, I couldn't have done it without you!

We had 377 kidz this weekend! 22 Salvations and Re-Commitments! The salvation calls just get sweeter and sweeter. It's amazing to watch all the kidz, even the ones observing this declaration of Jesus becoming someone's Savior. They sit in total reverence, not saying a word, not even moving much (and you do realize I'm still talking about kidz!) just watching on as their piers pray.

We talked this week about a New Word. I challenged them to know more about Jesus when they're in the 6th grade than they did when they were in 1st grade. I also challenged them to get to know God by more than what they are taught, but by their own prayers and reading. I asked the question "How would you like to only know your mom by what someone told you about her?" "wouldn't you rather know her yourself like you do now?". I encouraged them to know Him themselves and not just by what they were told about Him. Our Father is awesome, He's wonderful...but don't we ALL want to know that first hand? So encourage your kids to get a FRESH REVELATION of JESUS! Amen.

On another note...we're selling Kidz Alive T-shirts this weekend, so if you don't already have one get one this weekend! If your kids have one see if they will wear it this weekend.

Last but not least...be looking for those water guns for our big water gun blow out the last day of Bible Jam. We're going to "wash" everyone kidz style. Have them come with no water in them...and we've told them "the biggger the better"!

Bible Jam '08 - June 24th through June 27th 12:00pm - 3:00pm except Friday we're going until 4:30 to have plenty of time for our Bike drawings and water gun blow out! Ages 5 through 6th grade. Saturday Night is our Night of Holy Fire starting at 6:30pm for ages 3rd grade through 12th grade.

We will be having Bible Jam 08 this year. For ages Kindergarten through 6th grade June 24th-27th. That's Tues. through Fri. 12:00pm until 3:00pm. Except Friday we will go until 4:30pm. On Friday we'll have the drawings for the Bike's and our big water gun fight! Everyone should bring a sack lunch with them. Snacks will be provided.
Saturday Night June 28th we will have "A Night Of Holy Ghost Fire" for 3rd grade through 12th grade! You don't want your kids to miss it!

During the week we're planning lots of fun crafts, games, and lesson all around a "TRANSFORMERS" theme.

Each person has a chance to win a bike for their age group. To get in the drawing, all they have to do is bring their Bible, offering, a friend, and be there on time. For each thing they will get their name in the drawing that many times. So they have a chance to get their name in the drawing 4 times a day!

We had over 300 kidz this week and 20 salvation and re commitments in our Kindergarten - 6th grade group! Praise the Lord!

We split the older group this weekend and had 3rd - 6th grade came to Toma Hall after the worship. They had their lesson and games separate. It all went really well! We will continue with this format.

Our 3, 4, & 5 year old group continues to grow. We had them in a new location for their lesson, in the old Kidz Check-In Lobby. It was really awesome! Thank you teachers for staying creative and exciting with this group.

Thank you to all of our teachers for an awesome job. What an honor to have people dedicated to the spiritual well being of our kidz here at Word Alive.

We still need a few more parents to get on our 6 week rotation so we can accommodate our growing numbers! Thank you so much for those of you who have signed up recently. You have been a blessing.

A Salvation Story you have to read about in Kidz Alive 4/27/08

Of course this was another amazing week in Kidz Alive. We had staff and parents really step up to the plate where they saw a need. Thank you for those who served...you are incredible!

One particular moment stood out to me this weekend and I have re-played it in my mind over and over again. God is good, His mercy is everlasting , His truth endureth forever... We saw a handful of kids ask Jesus to be their Savior which is always awesome. Sometimes there is an extra special moment where the Lord just leans over and kisses a child. And that's what I saw happen this past Sunday. We were divided up into groups for prayer and the girls with me put on the table some requests for their parents who were arguing a lot, some with requests for their family's financial need and so on...we prayed and asked the Lord our provider to meet them in their place of need. It was a very sweet prayer time. When I asked if there was anyone who had never asked Jesus to live in them, one 10 year old girl slowly raised her hand. I repeated my question asking her if she had Never asked Jesus in her life. She shook her head no. She also told me this was her 2nd time in Kidz Alive. So I told the other girls to gather around her as believers who all had Jesus in their lives to pray with us. She repeated after me and made a declaration by faith, a decision that was already changing her life. I started telling her how she could talk to Jesus when there was no body to talk to, how no matter what worry or concern she had, she now had Jesus living on the inside of her to turn to. I told her that whenever she did wrong (like even I at 32 still do) she could turn to him. That he already left her sins on the cross...her expression never changed but tears just rolled down her face as she looked in my eyes and all the way through me...
It was overwhelming to see God literally kissing this 10 year old girl and she for the first time in her life confessed Jesus as her Lord and Savior!
I thanked God for allowing me that experience, as well as the girls in the circle who witnessed God's love that day.

What's New in Kidz Alive

Kidz Newz for April 27th, 2008

Great things are happening in Kidz Alive. April 19th, & 20th we had around 350 kidz! During our 11:15 service with K-5 thru 6th grade we had 8 kids ask Jesus in their hearts! It's amazing to me, everytime a young person is compelled to get closer to Jesus. In the month of April we have had more than 60 salvations and re commitments!
We've been studying the Bible to help familiarize them with it. So every week they have been leaving with a 5 question Bible Quiz and when they return with it filled out (parents can help) they've been getting a pack of gum or Ice Breaker Sours. The response has been great!

What's new in Kidz Alive?
Well...we now have a LIVE Kidz Band! The Kidz sing on the praise team. The kidz also are a part of a Kidz Handz Team who do motions and moves during the songs. Our final element of Worship is the painting! Kidz paint as an expression of their worship. It has been amazing!
These are ages Kindergarten to 6th Grade. We have about 30 kidz already involved in our Kidz Worship Ministry.
We also have Kidz Newz! Drew Varvell and Aly VanWycke have been doing a newz broadcast for Kidz Alive to bring all of the current information to the kidz.

And for our 3, 4, and 5 year olds...
They have been coming together for about 25 minutes during service time and having their own mini Kidz Church. There they do worship, a short interactive lesson, and sometimes a puppet show! Back in the classroom they do a couple of group activities that go along with their lesson and of course they get a sticker for their shirt, which seems to be the highlight for them. We can't forget snack time, and weather permitting, playground time!

2 year olds have their own short Bible story with a coloring paper, snack, and play ground time!

We can't forget Nursery and 1 yr olds! They have lots of play time, snack, and love.
